If you were among the many people who enjoyed our Running Days weekend, you’re not alone. We enjoyed bringing our treasured and historic vehicles out as well!
With the added benefit of good weather, many people will have obtained some excellent photographs and videos. If you enjoyed riding on and photographing our heritage fleet and are pleased with the results, you can show your appreciation by sending us some of your best photos and videos and we’ll showcase them in the gallery section of our website (with appropriate credits of course). Our contact details are at the foot of this page. Thank you for coming along and making it all worthwhile.

Quantock Motor Services is helping colleagues in the rail industry to support a UK charity in their efforts to take care of runaway children here and around the world.
Railway Children is an organisation that aims to care for children who have run away from home and face many dangers on our streets. “We aim to stop a runaway child becoming a street child. It’s about getting to street kids before the streets get to them.”
On the 25th - 27 June 2009 four of our First Rail colleagues Andy Procter, Andy Rickwood, David Spooner and Emma Greenhalgh are going to be attempting the gruelling THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE.
It is said that the event is equivalent to three half marathons on quite difficult terrain and of course there is little prospect of much sleep. Quantock Motor Services Ltd is donating towards this and wish the four intrepid climbers the very best of luck.
We kindly ask you on their behalf for sponsorship; please find information about this charity event by visiting the Railway Children website where you can make a donation. Thank you.

As part of a new initiative by the West Somerset Railway to boost tourism, we have been awarded a contract to transport day trippers from the Cricket St Thomas Hotel to Bishops Lydeard using one of our heritage double deckers. Passengers will enjoy a steam-hauled return journey on the railway before boarding the bus again for the journey back to the hotel.
It is likely that our ex-Hants & Dorset Bristol Lodekka, acquired from a private collector last year, will be used on some of these 50-mile round trips. The experimental service will run on 10 selected dates between May and October and, if successful, may be continued next year.

We are recruiting additional conductors to help operate our heritage fleet in 2009. The positions available are part time, paid posts and will involve timetabled services, primarily our service 400 “Exmoor Explorer” and private hire duties.
Full training will be given but previous experience and a natural aptitude will benefit the successful applicants. A certain level of physical fitness is desirable, as conductors will be on their feet for long periods and should be able to negotiate steep stairs comfortably.
If you think you would be a suitable candidate, please contact us (see foot of this page).
